Emergency lighting is a legal requirement in most commercial buildings, HMOs and shared residential blocks. Our emergency lighting installation service designs and fits maintained or non-maintained emergency lights, exit signs, escape route lighting and anti-panic open-area lighting to BS 5266 standards. We ensure every escape route is clearly illuminated, every exit is signed and every system is tested and certified.

FAQ

Common Questions

Does my building need emergency lighting?

Buildings with public access, sleeping accommodation, deep basements, windowless rooms or escape routes over 45 metres generally require emergency lighting. We assess your premises and advise.

What is the difference between maintained and non-maintained?

Maintained emergency lights operate as normal lights every day and switch to battery during power failure. Non-maintained lights remain off until the power fails, then illuminate automatically.

How long must emergency lighting stay on?

Minimum 1 hour for most buildings, 2 hours for sleeping accommodation and 3 hours for high-risk areas. We specify the correct duration for your building type.
